Mirranda Knight (21) was ‘living the dream’ with a fly-in, fly-out mining job until she was made redundant. While last year she had a lot of money, now she is desperate for work.

In the past month, Ms Knight has applied for more than 200 jobs online and was fed up with automated responses. She suspects computers scan applications for key words and that was why she had difficulty connecting with actual people.

‘I decided instead to get my face out there and grab the bull by the horns,’ she said.
