Police charge man (73) after fatal Halls Head crash

POLICE have identified 69-year-old Gabriele Schiller-Brett as the victim of the Halls Head fatal crash yesterday.

Major Crash investigators charged a 73-year-old man overnight in relation to the crash.

Police said a silver coloured Ford Falcon station wagon collided with a cyclist at the intersection of Old Coast Rd and McLarty Road at about 9.45am.

They allege the driver of the Ford failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

The cyclist, Mrs Schiller-Brett from Halls Head, suffered critical injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to the Peel Health Campus where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Ford was charged with fail to ensure assistance given after a traffic incident (bodily harm or death) and fail to report an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm or death.

He is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on April 26.
