Police claim man fled on stolen child’s bike before citizens’ arrest

MANDURAH Detectives have charged a man following a crime spree in Perth’s southern suburbs.

It will be alleged the man stole a black Jeep Patriot from a house in Luttrell Street, Beelier on March 3.

Police claim the man entered a house in Lamberts Cove, Secret Harbour and stole handbags and keys on March 6 at 8pm.

It is alleged the man entered the garage of a house in Flagstaff Crescent, Secret Harbour and stole tools and household items on March 6 at 8.30pm.

It is further alleged the man stole two potted plants from outside a house in Britawast Road, Madora Bay and kicked open the front door of a neighbouring house on March 7 at 6.30am.

The man has been charged with kicking open the door of a house on Jannali Way, San Remo on March 7 and stealing jewellery and shoes before returning to the stolen Jeep and driving away.

Police saw the Jeep in Jannali Way and attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver failed to stop, driving down stairs at the end of Boileau Place, Meadow Springs before abandoning the vehicle.

Police claim the man entered the rear yard of a house in Cleveland Court at 6.45am and stole a child’s bicycle.

The man then entered the backyard of another property and allegedly stole a phone, tobacco and keys from table in the backyard. It is alleged he used the keys to enter the garage and attempted to start a car. When the car alarm sounded the man fled on foot before being held by local residents until police arrived.

A 24-year-old man from Mandurah has been charged with a 10 offences, was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
