A MAN has been charged after allegedly stealing a mobility scooter from Mandurah foreshore on Tuesday.

Between 5.10pm and 5.40pm, a woman took her brother to Mandurah Terrace and parked the gopher outside the visitor centre while they were using the bathroom.

Police said the woman’s brother has a medical condition and needed to use the vehicle to go to the foreshore.

A man allegedly approached and placed his skateboard in the gopher, which has the owner’s mobile phone and personal items, and drove away with it.

Police found the gopher parked in the carport of a block of units on Rockford Street.

The gopher was returned to the owner but the personal items were not found.

A 22-year-old man from Mandurah has been charged with stealing and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
