Program helps empower women

THE first Recovery and Empowerment Program was a success after 11 women graduated the 15-week program.

The program, run by Safe Woman Safe Family Murray Center in Pinjarra, involved helping the women recognize and understand the impacts of trauma as well as how to overcome these hurdles.

Through pamper days, self-defence classes, a health and wellness day and a weekend healing retreat, the graduates improved their self-esteem at their own pace.

Co-founder and center director Tanya Langford said all graduates made extraordinary changes to improve their lives and gained strong friendships along the way.

“One of the beautiful outcomes is the incredible bonds these ladies have formed, that will continue, and also that they all know they are still linking into our center to do the other self-care weekly activities,” she said.

The second round of the free program will begin in a few weeks, with spots still available.
