Ramsay Health Care to manage Peel Health Campus for another five years

RAMSAY Health Care (RHC) will continue managing Peel Heath Campus after their contract was extended for another five years, it was announced today.

A statement from the State Government said the decision would ensure continuity of service and save taxpayers an estimated $13 million.

Health Minister John Day said the five-year contract extension, which starts in mid-2018, reflected the State Government’s commitment to delivering high-quality services while reducing costs.

“Peel Health Campus is a vital part of the hospital network and provides essential health services in one of our most dynamic regions,” Mr Day said.

“I am confident RHC will continue to provide high-quality services to the Peel community over the extended term of the contract, at a price which represents value-for-money to the state.

“The competitive contract pricing will bring Peel more in line with recent Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), which are delivering significant savings.”

The announcement comes after St John of God confirmed in April they would bid for the campus contract.

RHC took over the management of Peel Health Campus in 2013 after the previous contractor, Health Solutions, was subjected to a government inquiry in 2012.

The inquiry was set up to investigate accusations of fraud and workplace bullying.

Since RHC took over the management there has been comparatively little controversy.

Mr Day said regular service reviews would continue to address the changing health care needs of the Peel community.

“The contract extension also gives us the opportunity to review and finalise clinical service planning based on the region’s projected long-term health care requirements,” he said.
