THE new Safe Woman Safe Family Murray Centre in Pinjarra will provide a much-needed range of programs and support to women in the Murray region.

The service is for women whose lives have been affected by family and domestic violence and abuse-related trauma.

The centre opens for business on Monday, April 29, but the community can take a look around at a community open day on Friday, April 26, from 11.30am to 3pm.

The Shire of Murray has provided the building with a free three-year lease and the option of another three years.

Agencies already lined up to offer their services from the centre include Relationships Australia, Palmerston Drug and Alcohol and Peel Community Legal Services.

Co-founder and director Tanya Langford said about 25 volunteers would operate from the centre.

She also has big plans for a range of outbuildings where a women’s circle, arts and crafts, yoga and gardening workshops could be run.

The centre at 14 Camp Road, Pinjarra, will be open Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 4pm.
