Sand monitor pays Dawesville home a visit

DAWESVILLE resident Mandy Cox found a sand monitor in her backyard at 1.30pm yesterday.

“We had a lovely visitor to our backyard,” she said.

“I have to admit it was cute.

“I am glad we had our dogs inside; we made sure it was gone before we let the dogs back out.”

Sand monitors, also known as racehorse goannas, are found in most parts of Australia.

They like to forage and are diurnal.
