Boys starting Year 7 in 2015 are eligible to apply for the six-year scholarship, which is worth almost $150,000.

Headmaster Garth Wynne said the opportunity, which was extremely rare because most scholarships covered only 50 per cent of fees, would be offered to a student on the basis of financial need.

‘Thanks to the generosity of donors within the Christ Church community, this scholarship presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a worthy boy who for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to attend the school,’ Mr Wynne said.

Year 9 student Josh Collier, of Bertram, received a fully-funded scholarship in 2011 after the school received a generous donation from a patron.

The 14-year-old, who catches the train to school every day, said the scholarship enabled him to take part in exceptional experiences like sailing on the Leeuwin for his Year 8 camp and studying app development.

‘I was always quite lucky and won little things but I never won anything like this before,’ Josh said.

Applications for the scholarship close on April 28.
