THANKS to the generosity of a local supermarket owner, a residents’ association has been able to put some of its recycling ideas into action.

Seascapes Community Association has opened a book exchange at Seascapes IGA and also provides boomerang bags – bags where shoppers who have forgotten theirs can pick up a free one and return it on their next visit.

And then there is Cooper, the gorgeous golden retriever owned by Association chairman Deb Maybury.

Cooper is the figurehead for Maybury’s Socks for Cooper, in which new socks can be dropped off at the store and donated to the homeless and needy through HALO and Peekaboo Community Support.

Cooper even has his own Instagram and Facebook pages.

“With winter around the corner, socks are one of the main items people need,’’ Mrs Maybury said.
