MANDURAH and Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO) is working with Perth Convention Bureau to showcase the region as an ideal location for conventions, business meetings and incentive groups.

Last month, 16 managers from the South East Asia Singapore Airlines team experienced Mandurah Cruises Wild Seafood Experience as part of a trip to WA.

The group stayed in Fremantle and was transferred to Mandurah by Westside Tours before enjoying the unique “catch, cook and eat” experience.

MAPTO chief executive Karen Priest said the convention and incentive market was an important part of the region’s tourism offering.

“Business meetings, conventions and incentive tours bring in large groups that access a range of goods and services such as accommodation, meeting spaces, restaurants and tours, generating healthy income for tourism business,’’ she said.

“They also allow us to showcase the region to people who might otherwise not have Mandurah on their radar.’’

“Not only do many of them extend their visit to include leisure time but they also go home and tell their family and friends.”
