Rachel FennerMandurah Coastal Times

A BUSHFIRE advice has been issued for Lane Poole Reserve after lightning sparked multiple fires in the area.

A smoke alert was also issued for Yarloop, Preston Beach and surrounds as a result of the bushfire.

There is no threat to lives or homes and campers do not need to evacuate from recreation areas, but there is a lot of smoke in the area.

The bushfires are moving fast in a westerly direction and are not contained.

About 160 hectares of bushland has been burnt.

The Bibbulmun Track is closed between Yarragil Form and Driver Road, the Munda Biddi Trail is closed between Nanga Mill and Driver Road, and the Captain Fawcett 4WD track is closed.

Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are building containment lines, and fixed wing and rotary aircraft are assisting ground crews.

If the smoke thick, people are urged to shut doors, windows and turn off air-conditioners.

The smoke may reduce visibility on some roads and motorists should take care, turn on headlights and travel at appropriate speeds in these areas.

People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.

People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
