South West fire: looking after evacuees

MORE than 300 people were registered at the Pinjarra evacuation centre after nearby towns were evacuated due to bushfires.

Evacuees were offered counselling and volunteers worked tirelessly to help those in need.

Welfare coordinator Ryan Hamblin thanked local businesses and charities who donated food and water throughout the week.

“We’ve had lots of local donations,” he said.

“Businesses such as Subway and the bakery brought in food.

“We’ve had roasts delivered and 250 hamburgers.”
