SOUTH West MLC Nigel Hallett is quitting the Liberal Party to run for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers (SFF) Party at next year’s State Election.

Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party MLC Rick Mazza said Mr Hallett was well respected by his constituents and would take more than a decade of parliamentary experience to the SFF in WA.

“We are delighted to accept his membership application,’’ he said.

“His involvement in the future of the South-West Region and the agricultural industry is one for which he has passionately advocated.

“The government’s decision to invest $23 million dollars in Doppler weather radar stations was largely due to Mr Hallett’s tenacity and persistence on behalf of the agricultural community.

“He was also instrumental in reversing last year’s decision to close the Jakarta trade office that would have had a negative impact on our livestock export and other markets.”

Mr Mazza said he looked forward to working with Mr Hallett.
