Special delivery to help mums

The kits, which include a length of black plastic for use as a clean place for delivery, several pieces of gauze, pieces of cord to tie the umbilical cord, a scalpel, a pair of gloves and a piece of soap all folded and sealed into a small plastic pouch, are sent to developing countries so women can give birth in a relatively safe manner.

Peel Zonta members fundraise throughout the year to buy the $3 kits. A portion of the cost is also used to train midwives in the developing countries in safe birthing procedures.

Peel Zonta Club holds a workshop at least once a year.
