YOUNG hockey players based in country WA are accessing a new program to help get themselves to the next level.

The BMR Coaching Academy provides young hockey players with strength and conditioning programs, specialist training and opportunities to play the game on a national and international stage coupled with a focus on health and wellbeing.

The academy currently has 27 young players in their program, 11 of which hail from the Peel area.

“The BMR Coaching Academy is so much more than just a hockey program, we are an holistic program that is there to help empower young people to achieve their dreams and goals in life,” he said.

“We want to make this program available to all young hockey players across regional, rural and remote WA, from Albany in the Great Southern right up to Broome in the Kimberley.

“We hope that our participants will have the opportunities to further develop their hockey, grow as people off the field, make new friends from all over Australia and worldwide and have new and exciting experiences.”

Mr Buck said a group of their participants would be heading to Sydney in October to play almost a dozen games of hockey against development teams from NSW and New Zealand.

He said planning was also in the works for a tour of Singapore in 2020.
