State Election 2017: Murray River redevelopment scheme kicks off in Pinjarra

STATE Government/Royalties for Regions funding of $275,000 launched stage 1 of the Shire of Murray’s Murray River re-development project at Pinjarra today.

Murray MLA Murray Cowper commended the council on the completion of a community backed master plan for the Murray River, building on substantial playground and public amenity improvements already carried out.

Mr Cowper said the development would enhance the Murray River foreshore in central Pinjarra with quality improvements to be shared by locals and visitors.

He said a further allocation of a $42,854 grant to extend WiFi services would be a further boost to Pinjarra’s tourism and community growth.

Shire chief executive Dean Unsworth said the council hoped to announce plans for redevelopment of the Exchange Hotel site on the Murray River foreshore in a few weeks.

“The new facility, a proposed community amphitheatre, together with WiFi access and improved traffic arrangements would greatly boost Pinjarra’s appeal to tourists,” Mr Unsworth said.
