THE Perth sky put on a spectacular showcase while residents sheltered from hail the size of golf balls as a storm rolled through the southern suburbs last night.

The storm front lit up the sky with a dazzling display when it hit the metropolitan region and Mandurah yesterday evening.

The Mandurah region was also hit by the state’s second wave of hail in 24 hours, following on from the shower which hit the Great Northern Highway on Saturday.

Some residents reported significant damage to their property after they were hit by large hailstones and took to social media to share their best pictures of the surprise storm.

State Emergency Services responded to 29 calls overnight, with Meadow Springs near Mandurah the worst affected.

The wild weather may not be over just yet, as the Bureau of Meteorology reported a slight chance (20%) of a shower or thunderstorm over the eastern hills this afternoon and evening.
