Ms Della-Spina and nine other nursing students in their final year of studies, along with two lecturers, will make the three-week trip as part of an overseas placement program.
The group will travel self-funded to the remote Om Goi region in the country’s remote north.
‘We will be providing the local people with basic health care, outreach nursing, health promotion and education to families including many children,’ she said.
‘Many of the people we will be seeing do not have the opportunity to access healthcare as we do here in Australia, they either live too remote or can not afford it.’
The group has a fundraising goal of $6000 to purchase vital medical resources to take and help transport patients to hospital.
Donations of medical supplies like old glasses are also welcome.
