Students help shoppers at Mandurah Forum

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

RECENT visitors to Mandurah Forum enjoyed extra care during their early morning shop when they were helped by Year 10 students from Foundation Christian College.

Students continued the ‘Less of Me and More of You’ theme, adding to their 21 Acts for Service for 2018 by visiting the Forum over several weeks and offering help to shoppers.

Principal Andrew Newhouse said feedback was that people were surprised at being approached but once they realised the offer was genuine, visitors were very grateful.

“On a particularly quiet morning, students took the initiative to help a storekeeper stack shelves,’’ he said.

“Even though they were only at the store for a short while, the positive impact on those they served and themselves was tremendous.”

The next acts of service include helping visitors and spending time with the elderly at a local retirement village, cleaning the Middle School and accepting an invitation to help at Cohuna Koala Park, Byford.
