Surf Life Saving reports shark sighting south of Mandurah

A SHARK has been spotted south of Mandurah today.

A member of the public reported seeing a 2.5m shark at Avalon Point south of Mandurah about 12.20pm.

The species of the shark is not known.

The shark was spotted 300m offshore, approximately 200m from Avalon Point at egg farm surf break.

Beaches remain closed in Mandurah from Halls Head to Falcon due to a beached whale carcass.
