When fire crews arrived at the Cooper Street blaze at 2.25am, the house was completely engulfed in flames.
The fire was suspicious, according to the DFES spokesman, but no one was in the house when fire crews arrived.
There was asbestos on the site and the damage bill was estimated at $150,000.
Fire crews left the investigation to police.
