The Sound of Music: Primadonna tackling another well loved musical

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

HARD on the heels of their recent record breaking attendances at Shrek Junior, the Musical, Primadonna youth are tackling yet another well loved, although slightly older musical, The Sound of Music.

A special arrangement designed for school-aged children, the slightly abbreviated version contains almost all the well-known songs and the familiar storyline is unchanged.

Maria’s journey from the Abbey to the position of nervous governess and eventually a beloved wife comes complete with folk dancing, an a Capella Latin chant by the nuns and a lively ensemble routine of The Lonely Goatherd, as well as touching on the Nazi occupation of Austria.

A turnover of older pupils moving on after Shrek means five of the Primadonna troupe are performing in their first show.
