THIEVES tore down an entire brick wall during a brazen daylight robbery in South Yunderup last week.

They stole a $7000 trailer and an $18,000 excavator.

Bradley McGrath is looking after the South Yunderup property for his friend Murray Walker, who is in Bali.

Neighbours told Mr McGrath they heard a great crash around 3pm on Monday, September 14.

Mr McGrath said his friend is not insured.

“It would have made an outrageous noise,” he said.

“He is absolutely distraught. He’s only got a few years left of work as he is near retirement.”

Mr McGrath said the trailer was locked with a truck and a brick wall blocking access.

“There is one road into South Yunderup and one road out,” he said. “People know Murray, they know the trailer; hopefully this will prompt their memory.”

The trailer has a tow weight of two 2½-3 tonnes.

Mr McGrath believes a large truck would have had to be used to pull the trailer out and knock down the wall.

He is concerned it took police 24 hours to arrive after he reported the theft.

Pinjarra officer-in-charge Clyde Pearson said they were investigating the theft.

He said jobs are ordered in priority due to the way the Perth dispatch system works.
