Victoria RificiMandurah Coastal Times

THREE Mandurah super mums will aim to raise $5000 in an effort to represent WA at the Origin Master’s League Crossfit Cup in Queensland this September.

Michelle Wong, Orla Brennan and Skye Pember were selected to join another 60 athletes to smash fitness goals at the Crossfit Cup.

The mums, who each have kids aged five and under, will fundraise for the three-day event and then split the total between them.

“We have a quiz night on August 4 plus some other events that are all helping to raise the thousands we need to get the team to Queensland,” Mrs Wong said.

“We also have a Go Fund Me page set up called Get us to Master’s League in QLD.”

The women have been trained by Family First Fitness owner Mrs Wong.

Mother to 5-year-old Jimmy Wong, Mrs Wong trains hard herself, and was also successful in making the 2018 team.

“I am so proud of these amazing women – they are real life super mums, getting it done with the kids, leading by example, and inspiring many other women on their journey,” she said.

Orla Brennan, who is still breastfeeding, said she would feed her daughter between workouts.

“I exercised throughout my pregnancy, and once I got the all clear after recovering from a caesarean, I was straight back at the gym,” she said.

Skye Pember, who is the primary carer of her two boys, would juggle her business, personal trainer studies and training for the competition.

“Michelle and the gym girls keep me focused, and now I’m proving that single mums can dream big and make it happen.”
