Top business award is just the medicine for Mandurah doctor

She now runs three companies, including one in Mandurah.

Dr Armstrong was recognised for her achievements on October 9 when she won the Start Up Award category at this year’s WA Business Women of the Year Awards.

She is the managing director of Collins Street Surgery in Kalgoorlie and oversees the wellbeing of a 5000-patient strong practice. Dr Armstrong recently purchased a second practice, Mandurah Obstetrics.

The judges said Dr Armstrong was forced to think outside the square to entice more practitioners to regional WA and to handle increased patient loads without compromising the quality of services.

Dr Armstrong also has a company April Armstrong Enterprises, involved in investment, property and medical services.

“I was surprised and never imagined I would win this award,” she said.

State winners proceed to the national finals on November 18.
