IDENTIFYING the future employment needs of the Peel region is a priority in the design and implementation of the Transform Peel program.

The program plays a significant role in the future of industry and employment generation in the Peel region.

The Peel Development Commission has contracted locally-based business SDF Global Pty Ltd to undertake a workforce skills survey to identify skills profiles, staffing proportions, job pathways, education and training requirements likely to result from Transform Peel.

This will ensure that prospective employers will have a ready supply of suitable human resources into the future.

Transform Peel, which is managed by the Peel Development Commission, is a 35-year program to activate under-realised economic potential in the Peel.

The focus is on developing business opportunities, particularly in the food, technology and light industry sectors.

Commission chairman Paul Fitzpatrick said Peel business operators were key stakeholders in the project and urged them to complete the confidential online survey.

“To achieve the Peel Regional Investment Blueprint’s vision of ‘a progressive, prosperous, and dynamic region with a culture of care’ it is imperative that we ensure a capable and skilled local workforce, ready to take up the opportunities created by the Transform Peel program,” he said.

“A workforce skills analysis is the first step in achieving this goal.

“With guidance from the Peel Workforce Development Alliance, we have contracted SDF Global to focus on the likely employment outcomes of Transform Peel, and to engage with stakeholders.”

The report will be completed by May and will inform the development of partnerships to ensure a local skilled workforce that is able to take up the opportunities available in both the short and long term.
