Trio robbed at gunpoint while fishing

TWO men have been charged after a group were allegedly threatened with a gun and robbed at Egret Point, Halls Head on Sunday, August 2.

Police said three people, two men aged 24 and 31 years and a 22-year-old woman drove to Mandurah to go fishing.

Around 1am, while they were sitting in their car another car pulled up alongside them.

It is alleged a male passenger in that car approached the victims, telling them they needed a licence to fish.

During a verbal exchange, another man got out of the car allegedly armed with a handgun.

It is alleged he was acting in an intimidating manner.

Police claim one of the men stole personal items from the victims and threw a large rock at their vehicle, breaking the windscreen before the men fled the area.

A 23-year-old Coodanup man was charged with two counts of robbery while armed and in circumstances of aggravation, three counts of stealing and one count of attempted stealing.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on August 5.

A 23-year-old Pinjarra man was charged with aggravated robbery and criminal damage.

He is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on August 11.
