WA Australian of the Year award winners visit City of Mandurah

TWO 2017 WA Australians of the Year inspired guests at a morning tea today hosted by the City of Mandurah.

The visit was part of a Tour of Honour around WA.

WA Senior Australian of the Year Peter Kenyon has worked with more than 1600 communities in Australia and 59 overseas to stimulate economic renewal.

In 1989, motivated by a desire to create healthy, inclusive and enterprising local economies, he started Bank of I.D.E.A.S (Initiatives for the Development of Enterprising Action and Strategies).

Since then, he has helped communities spark their own ideas and invest in themselves to build a sustainable future.

WA Young Australian of the Year, 24-year-old Abdullahi Alim is a social innovator.

Mr Alim, who arrived in Australia as a Somali refugee at the age of five, graduated with an honours degree in finance last year but had already co-founded an innovation lab to solve issues of contemporary concern.
