A statement was released late Thursday night (January 7) by festival director David Chitty citing road closures and safety fears as reasons for the cancellation.

He said they could not compromise patron safety and go ahead with the festival knowing lives were at risk getting to the event.

They had no chance to relocate prior to the event, Mr Chitty said.

“First and foremost our thoughts are with our local community of the South West, in what has been a challenging day, with more challenges to come,” he said.

“We give all our love and support to our local family in this intense time of stress.”

Southbound patrons will receive full refund on tickets.

Information regarding ticket refunds will be released on Wednesday, January 13.
