Woman jailed for assaults and thefts

Staff ReporterMandurah Coastal Times

Akuira La Toya Brown committed stealing offences over a short period as well as assaulting two employees from Priceline Pharmacy in Mandurah.

Police prosecutor Jim Scott said the employees had followed Brown to the carpark after they saw her put perfumes into the lining of her bag and leave the store. He said Brown repeatedly bumped the employees, swore at them before throwing the items, punching one employee on the side of her face and the other in the head.

Mr Scott recommended a term of imprisonment. ‘It appears Ms Brown was a one-woman crime spree,’ he said.

Brown’s lawyer, Rhonda Flanigan, said her client had suffered family trauma after her sister was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
