Woman remains in hospital after New Year’s Day assault near Mandurah

MANDURAH Detectives are investigating an assault on a woman in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

They allege that a fight between a man and a woman who knew each other, took place near the Kwinana Freeway in Parklands between Namberlup Bridge and Lakes Road, near the cycle path.

Police attended and found a 36-year-old woman injured and distressed.

St John Ambulance took her to Peel Health Campus where she remains in a stable condition.

A 30-year-old man was charged with causing bodily harm.

He will appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 6.

Detectives are asking for the person who called police to report a man in boxer shorts walking a dog around the time of the incident to get in contact or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
