Work goes on for bushfire victim support

Rotary Club of Pinjarra members have been busy working and raising funds for the fire victims.

They have raised more than $300,000 and have been spearheading efforts in multiple areas.

Pinjarra Rotary Club president Rob Davis said members could not sit and wait.

“There are several areas where we feel we have filled in the gaps,” he said.

“We have committed money to local trauma counselling and subsidising quality hay for livestock.

“Most importantly, this money is being used now and it’s being allocated directly; not waiting until the farmers are beyond desperate and still jumping through hoops to get funding.”

The efforts go further.

Rotary Pinjarra has also |organised several clean-ups, primarily pulling down |burnt-out fencing.

“The money goes a long way in helping but just as important is letting the farmers know that we have not forgotten them by providing them with good old-fashioned hard work,” Mr Davis said.
