XL Martial Arts offering course in life skills for school kids to avoid bullying

XL Martial Arts owner Eric Jensen is offering a six-week course in life skills for school children.

The course covers topics such as conflict avoidance, stranger alert, the five rules of personal safety and trusting your intuition.

Mr Jensen said many parents worried about bullying in schools and the School Safe/Street Safe course taught participants resilience.

“A child who is confident in his/her abilities rarely gets picked on,” he said.

Mr Jensen said parents should keep a diary of what was happening and meet with teachers if their child was being bullied.

“If the bullying continues, parents and children should take a stand,” he said.

“Go to the police with your diary and make a full complaint.

“If your child stands up for themselves, you have documented proof of what has happened leading up to this point.

“It is now time to no longer be a victim.”
