HOW any City dignitary, or for that matter any Mandurah resident, can describe the footbridge adjacent to the station as a “wonderful piece of community infrastructure, or a great asset to the community” (Coastal Times, February 17) is beyond belief.
On the numerous occasions I have passed under the bridge, at various times of the day, I have only seen it used twice, once by a skate boarder and the other by a woman pushing a pram.
Moreover, that is the experience of most people I have spoken to.
Along with frequent road works and alterations along Mandurah Terrace and the provision of reticulated flowerbeds along Mandurah bypass, this bridge represents yet another mistake in the council’s planning department as well as bringing into question the council’s decision-making capabilities.
