Dawn service disappoinment

Janice TeoMandurah Coastal Times

I COULD not agree more with the letter from Janet Torrens in last week's edition headlined "Please explain".

I too was most disappointed with the Anzac Day dawn service. By the time the actual service began, it was well past dawn.

The smoking ceremony caused many around me to cough, which spoiled the peace and solemnity of the occasion.

There is a time and place for all ceremonies and I do not think the "welcome to country" smoking ceremony should be part of the dawn service.

I have been attending the dawn service for many years and this is the second year I have been disappointed in the Mandurah service.

I am seriously considering going elsewhere next year.
