Haven sought

Janice TeoMandurah Coastal Times

PEOPLE, in my opinion, can voice their opinion as much as they like, even Charlie Gibson in his letter in last week's edition headlined "Days of worry".

People can choose to listen or read those opinions or not but, Charlie, don’t let the facts get in the way of a good yarn.

The boat people are not, as Charlie states, illegal. They may not be the most popular visitors to our shores but they are seeking, legally, a safe haven as per the charter of the United Nations.

They are called “refugees” not “illegal boat people” and it is Australia's job to work out who are genuine refugees and who are not.
