From the moment I entered the Emergency Department after the initial triage through to the ward areas and then to theatre and discharge, I can reassure the community that the rumblings about the way in which the hospital has been governed has not affected the staff at the coalface.
All of them – clerical, medical, emergency, ward, theatre, nursing, catering, cleaning and maintenance staff – are very professional and have great clinical and specific skills in looking after patients.
I ask the State Government to support the proposed development of the health service to ensure that the community in the Peel region is provided with services to the equal of those available to our northern neighbours. I also suggest our elected leaders spend overnight in our health services to experience at first hand the great job staff do in tough times.
