AS long-term patron of Supporting Our Seniors, or SOS as it is known, I wanted to publicly acknowledge the passing of Jim Elphick, who was such an important inspiration and co-founder of this group back in the late 1990s.
Jim was part of a group of people who, back then, wanted to establish a local organisation that provided inexpensive support to local seniors and people with disabilities to ensure they could stay in their own homes.
The idea to create a group made up of volunteers who would help people with basic gardening and home maintenance needs was born and Jim was SOS’s first chairman.
The SOS organisation and local residents will continue to benefit from the legacy he leaves behind.
Vale to a wonderful local volunteer and positive contributor to our community.
