Letter struck a chord

BERNIE Whitworth’s letter in last week’s edition was so good. Maybe some of today’s spoilt children and their parents should read it.

It is so very true and I can relate to this piece of history.

Not many people owned a motor car and we mostly walked to and from school in all weathers carrying heavy satchels and dressed in suitable clothing for the weather.

We used our brains for homework, no calculators, iPhones or Google.

I cannot believe how many children who are not even old enough for school have iPads; take those items away from children today and they would be absolutely stuck.

They do not need their brains.
