Messy Thought: Illegal Dumping in Mandurah

IT is interesting to read the coverage in the newspapers of the increasing amount of illegal dumping of rubbish recently in the Mandurah area and it seems to be getting worse.

I do find myself asking the question of why I was charged $7.50 to dump an old tyre at the Mandurah waste facility and not be able to use a tip pass.

Perhaps some of the community would say why bother and leave it on the side of the road.

I shudder to think if we all thought this way.

It could be that if the council made it easier and dare I say free of cost for the ratepayers of Mandurah to take it to the tip it would both stop the illegal dumping and reduce the kerbside pick up, which is a complete debacle both from a management of the system and an eyesore.

I could see the council rangers helping as they drive by in their vans stopping and picking up some of the rubbish like a 20ltr empty drum near Ocean Road in Dawesville, which I know rangers pass by daily.

If the area was kept clean, it would deter rubbish dumpers by leading by example.
