Publications from the Department of Transport advise that the waters adjacent to the proposed unrestricted area of Sticks Channel are extremely shallow and can dry out at low tide.

In fact, the department advises mariners to use Sticks Channel and not these extremely shallow waters. These waters are not part of any proposed minimal five knot speed limit as stated by the department in the August 7 edition of the Coastal Times.

Two marine biologists state that dolphins (particularly mums and calves) will be under threat of physical harm and stress if unrestricted boating speed limits are introduced to the 1.4 metre-deep Sticks Channel
