System is all wrong

Janice TeoMandurah Coastal Times

I JUST want to know what is wrong with the justice system in Australia. It seems that at least half of the criminals who come before a magistrate or judge are given paltry sentences, hardly any jail time or community work.

They should be given at least 10 lashes and longer jail terms.

The people to blame for all the crime increase over the past 20 years are the do-gooders who made the mistake not to smack children who were naughty.

I am 74 years old and received the belt when I was a child and the cane when I went to high school and I turned out OK.

These days the offenders come up with excuses that drugs or alcohol made them do it.

That is the weakest excuse I have ever heard yet judges and magistrates believe it.
