TO those readers who have suggested that roundabouts are preferred to traffic lights, perhaps they should try to cross the road as a cyclist or pedestrian.
I have to agree with the council that traffic lights are so much safer than roundabouts.
Whilst the traffic may move quicker at roundabouts, they are certainly more dangerous than lights as in my experience as a driver here, interstate and overseas, most WA drivers have no idea how to drive safely and effectively at roundabouts.
Most drivers do not give any signal at or on roundabouts and the rest signal incorrectly, thereby sending the wrong message to other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and creating uncertainty and danger to all that dare to enter.
I have even seen many drivers stop whilst driving on a roundabout to let traffic in from the left!
Give me traffic lights any day of the week.
