Brennan set for Inters tilt

Im Victorious, who is prepared locally by Michael Brennan, won the WA heat at Gloucester Park on Saturday night by a half-head from Livingontheinterest who will also go through to the final.

Driven by Gary Hall (Junior), Im Victorious was three-wide for the first 450m before momentarily leading up the one-wide line.

Mysta Magical Mach then made a three-wide move and Hall (Jnr) took a trail.

At the 800m, he started to lead up the three-wide train but wasn’t rushed up to the leader Livingontheinterest, but was instead rated.

Giving Livingontheinterest three lengths at the top of the home straight, Im Victorious surged at Livingontheinterest and got up in the last bound.

‘The horse has pulled up super, I couldn’t be more pleased with him,’ Brennan said on Sunday.

‘He is as fresh as a daisy, I couldn’t be happier with him.

‘Last night’s win just showed how good he is, giving a horse as good as Livingontheinterest three lengths at the top of the straight.

‘It’s a big thrill to make the Inters final and all the horses that have made the final deserve to be there.

‘It’s easy waking up in the morning knowing that you’ve got a horse like him in the stable.’

Saturday night’s win was his 22nd from just 33 starts and took his stake earnings to $737,035.

For Brennan, Saturday night’s success with Im Victorious was his second in the space of three days.

Galileo was sent out as a $4.70 second favourite in a 2560m stand at Northam.

After being engaged in a two-horse tussle down the home straight with Telham Lane, the six-year-old prevailed by a half-head after coming off a 30m handicap.

It was the former Kiwi’s first start in five months, but he had trialled leading up to Thursday night’s race.
