PEEL cyclist Colin Rose took second and third places in the over-50 men’s category as part of the State Time Trial and Road Race Championships at Dardanup last weekend.

In the time trial, cyclists in the over-50 men’s category rode on an undulating course finishing at Wellington Dam.

Three cyclists in the women’s open road race – Rebecca McKay, Emily Mascaro and Liz Leyden – rode away from the bunch.

In the end, McKay was too strong and took the solo victory.

Mascaro chased hard alone for second, with Leyden third.

Professional track rider Stephen Hall, from Pennsylvania, and 2011 Omnium Champion Michael Freiberg fought out a close finish in the men’s open race.

Hall was victorious after a sprint between the two at the top of the climb.

Alex Vukovisch was third with a brave solo chase.
