CYCLIST Conor Leahy has been selected as a VenuesWest Brand Ambassador Program.

The former Mandurah Catholic College student and Peel District Cycling Club member will receive $5000 sponsorship towards training and competition expenses.

The role of ambassadors is to highlight the role venues play in developing elite sportspeople.

Leahy trains and competes at the SpeedDome as well as the WAIS High Performance Service Centre. In his first international competition, Leahy placed third in his two events and is focused on gaining selection to the national team.

Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray said the Brand Ambassador Program supported four of our best athletes with their training and competition expenses.

“They will help inspire other up and coming sportspeople, as they pursue their dreams of competing on the world stage,” he said.
