The four brothers and their 10 karts were left with nowhere to race because of a entry misunderstanding.
The boys’ father and team owner Brian Chalmers forgot to pay the required nomination money on time.
Mr Chalmers was annoyed to find out the team was grounded four days out from the event.
‘Nomination money was due in by the end of September,’ he said.
‘I simply forgot while travelling from SA to Alice Springs for the Australian Dirt Kart Titles.
‘When the organising secretary saw me in Alice Springs, I was asked had I made the payment yet?’
Despite promising to make the payment upon return to WA, the team was not allowed to race in the titles.
‘I made a simple mistake, paperwork was done, I was just late with the payment,’ Mr Chalmers said.
‘But the people in control wouldn’t budge, so the boys missed out.’
The Chalmers boyshave competed all over Australia for the past five years with much success.
Recently the team returned home from Alice Springs with a record 11 podiums from 18 karts over two weekends.
This includes three Australian titles and two Northern Territory titles.
Mr Chalmers said it was hard to come to terms with this decision.
‘Being told less than four days out from the event with things already in place, tyre orders, parts and motors on the way from the east, setting up karts, moving trailers, sponsors coming from the country, its just a hard pill to swallow,’ he said.
‘To say the boys are disappointed is an understatement, to take away something they love so much and enjoy is heartbreaking.
‘They are strong though and will bounce back bigger than ever, they look forward to the rest of this domestic season.’
