IN-FORM chasers Duke Of Orc and Activator both extended their winning sequences with impressive victories at Tabtouch Park Mandurah on Friday evening.

The vastly improved Duke Of Orc snatched his third win in a row with a last plunge to claim the $35 Friday Buffet Grade 5 over 405m.

After crawling out the traps with a poor jump, Duke Of Orc lifted his rating to move up to midfield but was held up in traffic down the back straight.

As they turned for the finish line, Duke Of Orc was pushed wide but despite taking the long away home was still able to edge ahead of the duelling Shaft and Kerry Spice and nail victory by a head in 23.14. Activator had no problems stepping up to the big leagues when she took out the Essential Refrigeration Services Free To All (405m).

It was the Tania Thomas-trained chaser’s first crack at the top level and he responded by producing a personal best time of 22.54 to win comfortably. Activator has now saluted in his past four attempts and has a superb career winning strike rate with 13 victories from 24 starts.

The following night, last year’s WA Oaks winner Free Candy continued her resurgence with a second win on the trot. She accounted for her opposition in the Grade 4/5 over 647m when she scored by a length in 36.71.

The talented brindle from Steve Withers kennel now has 26 wins from 60 races and more than $135,000 in stakes to her name.
