The squad phase stage of the competition is a time when students skills are further assessed during training, which would take place twice a week.

Students would also complete a physio screening and physical fitness test.

Mandurah Baptist College staff member Lenie Howie said she believed Mandurah Baptist had the most students chosen from a regional school.

She said if students made it through the squad phase, they would compete in the championships.

“They would become part of the team due to compete in the AJVC as a selected player or train on,” she said.

Designated coaches and managers from Volleyball WA would accompany the students from September 30 to October 6 to the Coomera Sports Centre in the Gold Coast, if students were successful in trial selections.
